Fiorello La Guardia, Mayor

Robert Moses, Commissioner

My daughter sparkles smiles

Runs muscle and curls missile

Guided to the big swings she climbs

dangerously.

Oh, she’s fallen before

Cried and consoled myself she knows

Cautious how high. She sits the apex

Watching fives watching sevens

Favors her blistered palm.

Calculates her next snack.

No idea how completely

She is--in her exuberant health and in

Physical location. An old woman

Taps my shoulder--warning her worry.
